James Malm on Tithing

Recently, James Malm was doing a series on the "18 Truths".  Now, I don’t agree with a lot of things that he puts out, but one item I was curious about was his views on "Tithing".  It actually is quite good, although it is more commentary than a thesis.

His stress on "BALANCE" in giving offerings is particularly noteworthy, given some of the things still going on in some COG organizations.  When I think about “cultural auditoriums”, “pastor general’s” homes and the like being built, I think God is concerned about whether or not we will contribute to someone or an organization that will truly preach the Gospel rather than waste it on physical trappings.

From my perspective the comment on the Melchizedek Priesthood reveals a misunderstanding of the nature of the earthly and heavenly King/Priests. For my view on this, whatever it is worth, may I suggest the article “Jerusalem's Melchizedek King-Priests” at http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/futurewatch/id100.htm [link now gone]."

John, I put your comment here as it is more relevant to this topic.
