  1. 1 Corinthians 3

1And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

2I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

3For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

4For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

  2. Join the Council of Elders — or else?!

But I shouldn't scoff at that. What if this is a case of quenching the Holy Spirit, and what the Spirit wants to do in a minister's life?

Good point. However, who decides that? The COE? You? Me? Or, is that between Joel Meeker and God?

  4. I only know COG history on your "who decides" question.

I recall hearing a message in WCG by a man who was surprised when he was called to the stage during a service for ordination (Deacon, Local Elder or whatever). He didn't want to go forward — and the Pastor threatened during the service to disfellowship him on the spot if he did not. Yes, he finally consented.

Obviously, that pastor knew nothing about using God's Spirit. It is exactly that type of dictatorial authoritarianism that goes against Jesus' teachings.
